The Artistic Trap

Amanda and I went to Michael's today. Every time we go in there, I feel incredibly artistic and want nothing more than to come home and draw, paint, knit, or fold various origami creations. I swear they pump some kind of art-motivating gas in the air.

I escaped without buying anything, but when I got home my artistic motivation was waylaid by the desire for supper and to play Monopoly with Amanda on our iPads. We finished our game from last night and were soundly beaten by the computer players, and in a rematch, I achieved our revenge with a brilliant victory. In fact, it may have even been my artistry of the deal at work. Who knows -- maybe Michael's did influence me this evening after all!

Artistic

It doesn't take much to make me feel like I should be doing something artistic.  A visit to Michael's usually does the trick, and so does playing Minecraft for that matter.

The last few days though, seeing Amanda sketch and doodle with pens has made me feel the urge to do something artistic myself.  I pulled out my markers to do some doodling the other night.

Part of it though might be not getting to do my weekly whiteboard drawings anymore.  For over a year at the Tumbler Ridge Public Library I drew a sketch of what the library really needs on a weekly basis.  There were times when I felt like taking a week off due to lack of ideas, but I do kind of miss it.

Anyway, I think I'll finish this up and grab a sketchbook and either a pencil or some markers.  ...or maybe I'll get back to work on my current knitting project.

Yarn Tales

Amanda and I took this photo together shortly after stepping outside of Michael's last weekend.  We went there to pick up another skein of red yarn for my scarf after a discussion about whether I'd be able to live with the length of my scarf if I finished it up now.

Amanda thought it wasn't long enough, and I countered by saying that everything would be okay if I made the tassels at the end of the scarf long enough.  Eventually reason (Amanda) prevailed, and I'm planning on adding at least another foot of length to the scarf.

So when we stepped outside, I grabbed Amanda for this photo.  Looking at the photo now, I think it's funny that we were just at the right angle to have the signs for Edo and Opa (cut off somewhat) visible to either side of our heads.  Having never eaten at either of them, the photo was not planned that way.

Anyway, I'd better wrap this up for the night.  I've still got one more photo Amanda and I took together last weekend, and I'll probably be posting it tomorrow night.

Muddy Waters

Hi everyone!

Amanda and I are having a fairly quiet weekend, and we haven't taken any new photos so far.  Tomorrow will hopefully be another story though.

At any rate, this is the final photo Amanda and I took last weekend.  We had walked over to Michael's to pick up some sock yarn for Amanda (which she wouldn't have needed if her birthday yarn had arrived in time), and a set of double pointed needles so I could start sock knitting.

On the way back, we wandered aside from the trail to a lookout at the creek that flows through Muskoseepi Park.  There are piles of mud in the water, and a nearby sign commented something about how eventually it will pile up and fill in.

Amanda and I admired the view for a bit and then decided to take a photo together.  This photo is an *excellent* example of what our photos together should be.  We're both fully in the frame, Amanda is more centered than I am, and we're tilting our heads to the left.  I even had the camera more or less straight!

The Wrong Way...

I know this may surprise some people, but I was wrong!

While getting ready to post one of the new photos Amanda and I took this weekend while she was in Tumbler Ridge, I took a quick look through my photo directory and found one more I hadn't posted last weekend.

We took this photo on one of the bridges in Muskoseepi Park last Sunday on our way to Michael's.  It was a little chilly and windy, but it was really nice getting out and about rather than staying inside for the entire weekend.  That said, when I look at that photo it makes me think it was taken in the dead of winter, rather than just a few weeks before spring...

The Sound of water falling

On Sunday afternoon, Amanda and I went for a fairly lengthy walk.  I had to visit Michael's to pick up some more origami paper for a program at the library, so we walked over from Amanda's place.  We walked through Muskoseepi Park on the way, and stopped to watch the river flow down over the concrete embankment.

It was really neat to see the unbroken ice and snow above, and the free-flowing river below.  Amanda and I hadn't walked through the park for a few months, and we stopped for a photo while watching the river.

As a side note, it looks much colder in the photo than it actually was.  We both ended up pink cheeked by the time we made it home again, but we really enjoyed getting out, and hope that the warm weather continues so we can get out more often.
