Cold.

It's cold.  It's definitely winter.

It was -17 today, and with the wind chill it was -27.  I (completely understandably) went for a walk at lunch time and returned to the library very cold.

To top it off, there's a snowfall warning for the Peace region.  I don't think Grande Prairie is expecting quite as much, but other areas might get between 15 and 20 cm between now and tomorrow night.

It is winter.  But it's not as cold this winter.  I get to cuddle up to Amanda every night!

Cold... and Warm

It was chilly today.  I picked Amanda up when she dropped her car off to have her winter tires put on, and in the few minutes we were outside, we both got incredibly cold.  Then it was off to Costco for gas where I had to stand outside in the cold, and Amanda had to sit inside my car which was rapidly getting colder while it was turned off.

I will say this -- my scarf proved its worth today.  My neck was not cold, even if most of the rest of me was.

Anyway, Amanda and I were both cold, it was close to 6:30 already, and I made a decision.  I asked Amanda if I could take her for supper.  She suggested one place, but we ended up deciding on Boston Pizza, thinking that we'd be able to sit in a warm restaurant with hot food in our hands.  ...we ended up being seated in a drafty corner.  Our pizza was really good though, and we really enjoyed our time together.

Now we're in bed, comfy under the duvet Amanda bought at Ikea when we were in Edmonton earlier this year, and watching Breaking Bad on Netflix.  More importantly, we're warm.

Sweltering...

It's hot.  I know the temperature here and in Grande Prairie isn't anywhere near as warm as it has gotten elsewhere in Canada this summer already, but still...  It's hot.

According to my thermometer, it got up to +32 today.  That's not very hot compared to other parts of the world, but when you consider that just under six months ago my thermometer was showing -38, +32 is pretty warm.  I'm not well-informed about seasonal temperature swings in other parts of the continent, but a range of 70 degrees seems pretty large.

So how do Amanda and I cope with the heat?  Easy.  By doing what we do best:  taking photos together and posting them on this blog!

While uploading this photo that Amanda and I took together in Shop Easy on Saturday, I just had an idea.  I should re-post one of the photos she and I took together in January...  Maybe it would help me remember shivering and wishing for warmer weather.

Ahhhhhh.  Now if I were to hold a few ice cubes to my face and have Amanda nearby, I could imagine that we were still kissing during a winter walk instead of sitting at my desk sweating.

*sigh*
